If you see a "can't connect to mod.io" message when opening the mod menu in Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, the cause is usually a connection issue between your console and its online service. Work through the steps below in order, checking the mod menu again after each one.
1. Check your platform's online service status
If PlayStation Network or Xbox network is having problems, the mod menu won't be able to connect. Check the official status page for your platform before trying anything else:
If there's an outage, wait for it to be resolved and try again.
2. Disconnect and reconnect to your online service
This step has resolved the issue for a number of players. Close Cyberpunk 2077, disconnect your console from the internet in your network settings, then reconnect. Once connected, sign out of PlayStation Network or Xbox network and sign back in, then relaunch the game.
3. Test your internet connection
Run the connection test in your console's network settings to confirm you're online and signed in. If you're on Wi-Fi, try a wired connection if possible, or move closer to your router.
4. Fully restart your console
Putting your console into Rest Mode or Sleep doesn't clear everything, so do a full shutdown instead:
- PlayStation 5: Select Power from the control centre, then Turn Off PS5. Once the light is off, unplug the power cable for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
- Xbox Series X|S: Hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for around 10 seconds until it shuts down. Unplug the power cable for at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This also clears the console's cache.
5. Restart your router
Unplug your modem and router for at least 30 seconds, plug them back in, and wait for your connection to come back fully before turning your console on.
6. Check your account settings and restrictions
Some account settings can block access to mods and other user-created content. This is most common on child accounts or accounts with family settings applied.
- PlayStation 5: Check that Communication and User-Generated Content isn't restricted in your family management or parental control settings.
- Xbox Series X|S: Check that your privacy settings allow you to see and upload community creations.
7. Make sure the game is up to date
Check that Cyberpunk 2077 has the latest update installed. You can check for updates from the game's options menu on your home screen.
8. Clear the cache (PlayStation 5)
If the steps above haven't helped, you can clear your PS5's system cache from Safe Mode:
- Turn off your PS5 completely.
- Press and hold the power button until you hear a second beep (around 7 seconds), then release it.
- Connect your controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
- Select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then Clear System Software Cache.
This won't delete your games or saved data.
